Welcome to our immaculately-restored cottage,
set in the small hamlet of Saint Sornin.

The house sleeps six, and has a large private garden
with terrace area, table, chairs and BBQ.

It is located just 5 minutes from the village of
Moutiers-les-Mauxfaits, with its shops, supermarket
and ancient market-hall.

 

 

 



The cottage is situated only 15 minutes by car from
the sandy beaches of Jard-sur-Mer (right).
It is 15 min north-east of the popular holiday resort
of La Tranche-sur-Mer and 30 min from
the attractive seaside port of Les Sables-d'Olonne.










The fully-fitted kitchen (far left) is equipped with washing machine, cooker, fridge/freezer and microwave.
From the window you can enjoy a view (left) out over the sunny garden and the countryside beyond.

 


There is sleeping accommodation for six in three double bedrooms. A separate dining room (far right) seats six.
The lounge (right) has comfortable sofas, and
TV with British satellite channels.
The cottage has tiled floors throughout, central heating and double-glazed windows. All accommodation is at ground-floor level, making access easy for persons with limited mobility.

THINGS TO DO IN THE AREA

Besides spending lazy days on the wonderful beaches, you can explore
an exotic garden with lakes full of lotus flowers (5 min by car from the cottage),
take night-time tours of Talmont Castle - built by Richard the Lionheart – just 20 min away,
picnic in the shady forest, ride the coastal cycle routes, canoe through the Longeville marshes,
buy sea-fresh oysters and mussels direct from the producers at L’Aiguillon-sur-Mer,
and visit Avrillé to hunt for neolithic stones dating from the time of Stonehenge.

Historic places to visit include the Vendée's cathedral town of Luçon (15 min),
and the beautiful seaside town of La Rochelle (30 min) in neighbouring Charente-Maritime.

Recommended family outings include
daytime medieval-themed events at Talmont Castle,
and the world-famous Puy-du-Fou historical theme park and night-time “son-et-lumière”show;

Bird-watchers will enjoy the viewing facilities at the wetland bird reserve of
St-Denis-du-Payré, or witnessing the vast numbers of birds passing through this coastal area at
migration times around February and October.

Saint Sornin is 15 min from the Vendée's best-known wine-producing centre of Mareuil-sur-Lay.
It is also ideally placed for golfers, with three 18-hole courses within easy reach.
