	PLEASE NOTE This website is really just a supplement to Angela Bird’s guidebook, The Vendée (left), which gives full details in its 176 pages of hundreds of interesting and off-beat tourist sites throughout the region. What you see on the website consists of either extra topics not covered in the book (Calendar, Restaurants, Travel routes, Internet links etc), or updated information (new tourist attractions open – or old ones closed) since the most recent edition of the book appeared. The listings on this site are supplied in good faith, gathered by the author from various Vendée sources. However it is always wise to check details with organisers or tourist offices before making a special journey.

Until 2 Mar	Ghérasim Luca Exhibition of works by this Romanian-born poet (1913-94) who rubbed shoulders with the Surrealists in 1930s Paris, and collaborated with the Cubists on collages. 7 Mar	Sit Comedy show by Compagnie Tricicle 2, with slapstick humour based around the many comic possibilities of a folding chair 8.30pm. 25€, children 15€ (lower prices for subscribers)	Les Atlantes, 1 Promenade du Marechal Joffre, Les Sables-d’Olonne (tel: 02 51 96 85 78).
2 Mar	Carnival de mi-Carême Famous mid-Lent carnival parade through the village streets.	Coëx, near Aizenay

16 Mar

Rassemblement de voitures anciennes New for winter 2007/2008 is this monthly event, with owners of classic cars gathering at the marina of La Chaume.

17 Mar	Brahms Requiem sung in German. Part of the “Spectacles de Vendée” season. Part of Spectacles de Vendée. 8.30pm. 14€, under-26s 6€..	Eglise St-Hilaire, Mouilleron-en-Pareds (tel: 02 51 36 93 60 or online).
17 Mar- 18 May	Chassé le Naturel Exhibition of modern art from the FRAC (regional art collection), on the theme of nature.	1. Ecomusée du Daviaud, La Barre-de-Monts. 2. Ecomuéee Milcendeau-Jean Yole, Soullans.
21-23 March	Weekend de Printemps: wine-tasting weekend Michel Roblin uncorks some of his 2007 bottles for customers. Wines sell for about 2.70 euros a bottle. 9am-noon & 2-6pm.	Cave de l’Atrie.Beaulieu-sous-la-Roche (tel 06 60 75 26 42).
